Assessment

IQ Testing

I conduct cognitive (IQ) testing for private school admissions and school planning purposes. Testing is usually completed in one session (1-2 hours). A brief report and mini feedback session to go over the results is included. Reports will be completed within three business days of your child’s testing appointment and will be sent to you and the program(s) of your choosing.

Comprehensive Psychological Assessment

I provide individualized and client-centered comprehensive psychological evaluations. My style is influenced by Collaborative Therapeutic Assessment (C/TA), meaning I value a collaborative process that respects your/your child’s individuality and empowers you with meaningful insight. I believe effective assessment goes beyond checklists and diagnostic labels. My assessments are designed to help you gain a deeper and richer understanding of yourself or your child, and to use those insights to help you or your child be more comfortable and successful in everyday life.

What does a comprehensive assessment entail?

Each assessment is tailored to address your specific concerns, whether they relate to mood, trauma/stressors, attention, information processing, learning, behavior, personality, or overall functioning. We begin with a thorough intake to learn about your/your child’s history and current challenges, while formulating questions you want to address. With your consent, I may also talk to others who may provide important insights, such as a teacher, mental health provider, or family member.

From there, I select evidence-based tools and techniques designed to obtain information to answer your referral questions. Testing is done in 1.5 to 3-hour blocks, and one to three testing sessions are common depending on the questions you would like answered. Once the assessment is complete, we will discuss the results and how they relate to your assessment questions. I also provide feedback to children and teenagers for child assessments. You will receive a written report detailing the results and recommendations at the end of the assessment process. The whole assessment process generally takes 6 to 8 weeks to complete, though may be shorter in some situations.

What type of evaluations do you specialize in?

While I conduct comprehensive evaluations for a variety of presenting concerns, I specialize in psychological testing for children and adolescents with complex developmental, emotional, and relational backgrounds, including those with histories of adoption, foster care, trauma, and attachment disruptions. These evaluations are designed to provide a greater understanding of each individual's unique strengths and challenges, with a focus on how early life experiences may impact current functioning. I take a trauma-informed, compassionate approach that considers the whole child—socially, emotionally, and relationally—while working closely with caregivers and professionals to support healing, growth, and long-term well-being. My goal is to offer clarity and guidance that informs effective treatment planning, educational support, and caregiving strategies tailored to each child’s needs. I also conduct pre-adoption evaluations for prospective parents.

In addition, I offer in-depth personality and social-emotional assessments for individuals who are seeking to better understand themselves. Perhaps you feel stuck in life or in therapy, or feel at a loss of what is going on for your child. By exploring patterns in thinking, feeling, and relating to others, I help uncover the roots of emotional struggles and identify pathways for change. My aim is to provide meaningful answers and practical recommendations that support a deeper understanding of the self and more effective support—at home, in relationships, in school, or in therapy.

Please note, I do not perform custody evaluations or court-mandated evaluations at this time. Also, if you are primarily interested in autism testing, I can happily refer you to many wonderful colleagues who specialize in this area of testing.

Financial Considerations

A thorough and comprehensive evaluation can be extremely beneficial to individuals and their families, and the information gained can have lasting impact. However, this process typically requires many hours of professional time. The total cost of a comprehensive evaluation is typically $2500-$5000 depending on the scope of the evaluation.
